SiN (Association of Doctoral Organizations in Norway) has shared several important updates that we’d like to pass along to our community. Please take note of these announcements and consider getting involved where relevant, SiN can be contacted by styret@stipendiat.no:

1. SiN AGM in Oslo, November 23rd
   The SiN Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the University of Oslo on November 23rd. Additionally, there are plans for a social event with pizza on the evening of November 22nd, depending on financial availability. Candidates who plan to run for the election are encouraged to attend the SiN AGM.

2. Call for Election Candidates  
   SiN is seeking candidates for their 2025 board. If you know a motivated PhD candidate, postdoctoral researcher, or early career researcher, please encourage them to apply. They can submit their application by November 1st via this form: https://forms.gle/7q4nqESWGudLYeLXA. Let’s help ensure a strong board for the upcoming year!

3. Research Participation Opportunity – Changing Supervisors
   Researchers at the University of Agder are conducting an important study on the experiences of changing supervisors. If you or someone you know has such experience, you are invited to participate in this research project. You can sign up using the form provided by SiN (https://nettskjema.no/a/453891#/page/1).

4. Norwegian Language Requirement Complaint
   SiN is seeking a PhD candidate or early career researcher with a legal background to help draft an EFTA complaint regarding the Norwegian language requirement. While this is volunteer work, it has the potential to significantly impact international researchers in Norway. SiN and DION have pledged financial support for this effort. If you can contribute, or know someone who can, please reach out!

5. Feedback Request – SiN’s Position on the Movement for a Free Academia
   SiN has completed its position statement on the Movement for a Free Academia. They plan to publish it by October 27th and welcome feedback. The statement is attached, and we encourage everyone to review it and share their comments.

6. Protest Event – Trondheim, November 12th
   In response to the economic challenges in academia, with even permanent staff facing job cuts, researchers at NTNU are organizing a Protest Pub event on November 12th in Trondheim. SiN will be present to represent early career researchers. If you’re in the area, it would be great to see you there!
