Tekna NTNU and DION are happy to announce three seminars for your faculty on October 10th and 11th in Trondheim (info for Ålesund and Gjøvik below) dealing with aspects of temporarily employment at NTNU. This workshop is relevant for both PhD candidates, post doctors and others with a temporary scientific employment.  

The workshop will deal with working at Norwegian universities compared to other sectors, and give tips and tricks on what to expect when temporarily employed at NTNU. 

Both Tekna NTNU and DION will present how we can help you if you ever run into problems or dilemmas during your time here, and what to be aware of as a temporary employee. 

Light refreshments will be served. 

The workshop is open to all temporary employees at the IV, IE and NV, even if you are not a member of Tekna.

Ålesund: The last workshop (11th of October at 16.00) will be streamed to Ålesund, and you can gather together in the auditorium Åse (opposite the cantina). Light refreshments will be served. A local Tekna and DION representatives will be present there to watch the seminar with you and answer your questions. Please use the sign up form provided above and specify explicitly that you are in Ålesund. 

Gjøvik: The seminar in Gjøvik will be held at the end of November (preliminary date 24th of November). More information will follow!

Annual general meeting and board election of DION

DION is happy to invite you to our Annual General Meeting on April 7, 2022. This year the event will be hybrid with pizza for physical attendees at Trondheim & Gjøvik.

The election of the new board will be opened at the end of the meeting. We encourage all PhD candidates, post-docs and temporary scientific employees from NTNU to consider joining the board. The DION Board consists of 5 to 8 members, including the DION president, who serve for 12 months (until spring 2022). This is a great opportunity to get organizational experience from inside the university and work towards a better PhD and post-doc experience at NTNU. A board position on DION can be credited as up to one month of duty work, or one month extension of the PhD project period; whilst the president receives two months (Forskrift om stipendiater ved NTNU, §2)

Who can apply? 

·        All PhD candidates, post-docs and temporary scientific employees at NTNU (Trondheim, Ålesund and Gjøvik)

·        Candidates must have a contract until spring 2023.

·        Norwegian proficiency is required for the president position

How to apply? 

Send your short application including picture, name, affiliation, short bio and motivation (1 page max) to post@dion.ntnu.no. Please send your application before the 4th of April, so that we can share your application on our website before the AGM. It is also possible to step forward as a candidate during AGM.

All PhD candidates, post-docs and temporary scientific employees at NTNU.

The election will open at the end of the meeting on Valgweb and it will be open for 72 hours. The newly elected board will be informed directly after the election and we will also announce it through our digital channels. The online transition meeting for the new board will be held on 12th April 2022 at 15.00.

Invitation to visit the Winter Trollnight at Hunderfossen (Gjøvik event)

NTNU Gjøvik and DION invite all temporary scientific staff and family to a visit to the Hunderfossen Winter Trollnight on Friday 4th of March 2022.

“Due to covid restrictions the planned Winterpark for 2022 will be replaced by a musical theatre event: Winter Trollnight. Bring the whole family along for an evening of song, theatre and beautiful ice sculptures. See 3 shows at 3 different venues in the park, and experience the stunning snow and ice buildings.”

A bus will take us from campus at 16:45, and return from Hunderfossen at 20:45. Please give feedback in the registration form if you want to take the bus or arrange your own transport.

Ski Course with DION (Trondheim)

Dear all,

We would love to go skiing with you, so we would like to organize a course with Trondheims Skiklub! If you are interested, you can find some details here:


1. The weather at the moment makes it difficult to predict when we could do the course. Therefore we ask you to choose one of the indicated dates in the form which you can find at the end of this announcement.
2. The course costs 650 NOK. When we reach 30 people, the price will go down to 600 NOK. The course is unfortunately very expensive for us to take over completely. We would take over 150 NOK per person.
3. One instructor is provided per 6 people and the course lasts 1.5 hours, the equipment is included in the price.
